looks like rain is want to dry out and this should not be too much of a problem. in the east bay, we saw light rain about 15 minutes ago. we are dry in danville. drying up heading to the caldecott tunnel on highway 24. san francisco is mostly dry and it is no longer riding along on march the street. the wet weather will continue and we are dealing with light rain for interstate 580 and castro valley. down in the south, the rain is picking up in intensity not only is it impacting san jose but it is also impact in cupertino. >> you will need to use your umbrella this morning or a rain jacket. the rain is pretty much out of here in future cast 4 shows a

oakland where the search continues for 14 year old boy who is accused of shooting and killing his 17 year-old sister. off kron4 will tran is live at the oakland police department with more. >> he knew that the oakland police department was searching for him for about a week. we're not sure where he was or how he got by as a 14 year-old. that is cord to come out with the court documents but his family want to instill the police department unannounced and the tournament. he is in the custody of the oakland police apartment. here is video of the crime scene. the murder took place about a week ago on thursday. his older sister justice lives with their grandmother in oakland's chinatown. at 12:15 p.m. something happened, reportedly, he got mad because she put bleach on his clothes. he shot at hercules one time, she died

at the san and then he left the apartment complex. they never recovered the handgun the use. for a week, the thought he was armed and dangerous. >> here is the picture of a justice. she is his older sister, and she is also a mother. prosecutors will have to decide the motive. they have not released that. his attorney stated that they're not sure and they will have to wait for the prosecutors to decide. they do have options, they could charge of as a juvenile or as an adult. that would be key to this case. if he is convicted as a juvenile he will not spend much time behind bars and he may be release in his mid-20s. if he is tried as an adult, that means that he will have to have more time in prison. will find out more later with a plan to do. >> new this morning. they

concord. they are accused of robbing a kaiser hospital worker. it happened a week ago and hospitals parking garage on south main street. police said that one suspect was harmed with a knife and another had a bad. >> we could get a verdict today out of florence, italy in the third murder trial of the american exchange student amanda knox. her boyfriend-s e in her boyfriend were accused in 2007 of her roommate's murder. in their first trial, she and her boyfriend were convicted and sentenced to prison. a second trial acquitted the two of them, but italy's highest court ordered a new appeal trial. she has remained in seattle during this trial. >> a man is recovering after

are warning students that they are still looking for the man who walked naked into the south san francisco high-school girls locker room earlier this month. he exposed themselves to five cheerleaders before running away. police say no one was touched or injured. officers issued a sketch. the man is described as a white man in his late forties over 6 ft. tall and 190 to 200 lbs.. he is balding with short dark brown hair and a large build. a warning this morning on the peninsula 3 the someone is out there impersonating a water department employee to get access to people's homes and rob them. police in hillsborough said the suspect told the homeowner

looks like right now.we have the latest you need to know for your day. good morning and thanks for joining us on this thursday. i'm mark danon. and as erica said the rain is here, but there's not much of it. kron 4's mike pelton is in lafayette. mike, how's it looking out there? up in the sierra, the much needed rain is turning into snow. the national weather service issued a winter storm warning for the lake tahoe area early this morning. moderate to heavy rains and mountain snow developed overnight. rain and sleet hit the mountains earlier in the day yesterday. then it turned to snow overnight. which is so important for ski resorts.

they've been hit hard by the winter drought. some areas could see a foot of snow. other locations above 8 - thousand feet could get up to 2- feet of snow. the search for a 14 year old boy accused of shooting and killing his older sister is over. mario tolliver had been on the run for more than a week until he quietly turned himself in to the oakland police department. joining us live at police headquarters is kron 4's will tran with what's next in the case. the 14-year-old boy accused of killing his sister last week, in the chinatown

district of oakland, is now in police custody. mario toliver allegedly shot his 17-year-old sister, justice, last thursday. accompanied by family members, toliver walked into the oakland police department yesterday afternoon. police haven't released a motive for the shooting family members say mario shot justice because he was mad that she had bleached his clothes. detectives credit the family for pressuring toliver to turn himself in. toliver is currently in the juvenile detention center charged with murder. the police report has been filed. but it may take months to third find out if the sheriff's deputy who shot and killed 13-year-old andy lopez will be charged.

santa rosa police have completed their investigation into the october shooting by deputy erick gelhaus. prosecutors have the final report. the sonoma county district attorney is not saying when her review of the report will be finished. lopez was holding a toy gun that looked like an assault rifle when gelhaus shot him. lopez's parents have sued the county. coming up on the kron 4 morning news. rain is in the forecast. check out this video from oakland earlier. we'll be following the rain for you all morning long. and new this morning. at least one baby made her

week, car slid into each other on frozen rolls, turning freeways into parking lots. some people were stranded in their cars for at least a day. temperatures are expected to drop to about 15 degrees tonight before rising to 50 degrees tomorrow. >>: some parents in utah are outraged because their children school lunches were taken away from them and throw out because they did not have enough money in their accounts. it happened to up to 40 elementary students at a salt lake city school. the district realized a lot of students owed money for lunches but they'd already served a much. cafeteria workers went into the light lunches from the kids. they say they threw out the lunches because they can't be served another student. the students were given fruit and milk instead. the parents say children shouldn't be punished for the parents' mistakes.

a former teacher in southern california has been sentenced to 10 years in private prison for posing as a girl on facebook. he was convicted of doing this to be nude photos and video from underage boys. more than 100 boys were caught up in this. the former teacher zachary reeder, was sentenced yesterday after pleading guilty to various felonies. he's not believed to have had any & contact with the boys. >>: >>darya:new details this morning on the fire at a metal plant in redwood city last month. investigators now believe the fire may have been deliberately set.

we are back with a lettuce on some tech news for you. google is selling motorola in a multi-billion dollar deal. the internet giant is selling its motorola smartphone business to chinese p-c maker lenovo for the deal includes motorola smartphone brands like the moto x and moto g. and the droid ultra series --$2.9 billion. but google will retain ownership of most of its motorola mobility patents.

is kron 4 mike pelton. >> a 71 year-old suspect is already a convicted sex offender. he was a mauled in another incident in livermore police made their arrest back on the 23rd after they launched an investigation of the 18th. the livermore police made this announcement that in the past hour, here's a picture of the suspects. he is accused of molesting a 60 growth. police state is fed she was an acquaintance but at this point we're not sure how they knew each other. the district attorney has charged him with engaging in acts of sexual conduct with a child under 14. little more police do not believe that there other victims and because he was arrested in sunnyvale, he was booked into the santa cruz county jail. we're working to get more information from livermore police later on this morning.
